It's a shame that after all these years and all these administrations we are still dependent on fossil fuels.Cliffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08322086604599640345noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33436317.post-30593518838456049312007-05-28T21:19:00.000-04:002007-05-28T21:19:00.000-04:00I love it how it seems that EVERY summer we hear t...I love it how it seems that EVERY summer we hear that gas prices are going up due to the demand of summer driving season. Can't any oil refinery anticipate summer demand? Do oil refineries own calendars? Is the onset of summer news to these people every year?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33436317.post-22869747971734059122007-05-28T00:51:00.000-04:002007-05-28T00:51:00.000-04:00Talking about gas prices can open a huge can of po...Talking about gas prices can open a huge can of politically-debating worms, so I won't comment too much about it here. However, I will say one thing...

I know it's hard, but the only way gas prices will truly go down is if people STOP BUYING IT SO MUCH. Gas companies are businesses, not government welfare providers, so they're entitled to make money. But, if they can't sell gas at a certain price, they have to drop prices.

This translates into some common sense advice: go a little easier on the accelerator, learn how to coast & use momentum from hills, try walking/biking for short distance trips, and don't make frequent unnecessary trips.

And just for perspective, a fellow student studying abroad at my college (in Pennsylvania) this past year lives in Northern Ireland... he reminded me that gas is way more expensive overseas and has been for a long time. I'm not saying it's cheap here, but we're definitely not paying $6/gallon or anything like that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
