Greetings from Daytona Beach, Florida

So far I want to thank everyone for your prayers and well wishes. The trip is going fine. I am posting this from the lobby of Sleep Inn on Williamson Blvd, near Daytona Beach, Florida.

The trip so far: We left Medina about 6:15am Saturday morning. We went from there to Pax, WV, to see my wife's uncle, who is suffering from terminal cancer. He knows where he will be once he passes away, as he knows the Lord. Pray for his wife. She is very worn out from the ordeal. Very sad there.

From there we traveled to just north of Charlotte, NC, where we spent the night.

We all awoke early Sunday morning and got an early start. Not much sight seeing, but we are having a pleasant ride. To my northeast Ohio friends: I can now say that I have traveled every mile of interstate 77.

This weekend I have experienced several firsts. First time I have been in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

Now to Bella, Kathy, and Frasypoo. I had some boiled peanuts this afternoon. I didn't think they were too bad. My father in law wanted to see me gag on them, but I disappointed him. they had a texture similar to garbanzo beans, or chick peas. It also tasted like they were flavored with ham hocks.

I haven't taken any pictures yet because I intentionally left the WIXYcam at home. I had picked up a disposable WIXYcam, and left that there too by mistake. The motel we are at tonight has an Evil Big Box Store(tm) close, so I picked one up there. I know I'm in NASCAR country now just by looking at all the stock there. Heck, they even have the new Dale Jr. shirts at that Wal-Mart. So Sindi, if you are looking for some Christmas presents for your husband and son, just take that short drive from your home in Terre Haute, Indiana to the Evil Big Box Store(tm) in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Sounds like a difficult trip in some wasy Cliff.

I am very impressed that you tried the boiled peanuts. You're right...they do tatse like chick peas. In fact, that's how I get my kids to eat chickpeas...I tell them that they are shelled boiled peanuts. Works every time.

Glad to hear you are doing OK CLiff...Daytona is the beach I always go to when I'm in Florida. I one day hope to hit the gulf coast down there.

WIXY ~ Have fun an enjoy the south. It will probably be snowing in Ohio when you return, LOL. How did you like the trip down I-77, acros I-26, then south on I-95 ? Driving on I-95 is beyond belief at times, LOL. If you get time on the way back, stop in historical Savannah ..... it's worth the trip.

cliff-glad you got there safely. on the way back, allow 2-3 hours for construction? on 95 north out of daytona to get the first 30 miles. they are doing major work on it to make it a hurricane evac route. when our family was in daytona in june for the gymnastics nationals, it took 14 hours of driving to get to virginia from daytona. you can probably get good deals on priceline for charlotte or columbia. anyway, drive safe and get the rest you need--david

IF you're still in DB go to the track. You can walk right in when there's no events going on. If you're lucky you'll get to see some testing.

Since you are in Daytona Beach,you have to eat at Sorrentos.Its a little deli type place and its near the race track.

I don't think I will be taking any trips to Florida any time soon, but my uncle lives there and I know that he does love it there. It is good to see that you are doing ok and are haveing a good time. If you don't get to take any pictures don't worry you can just write about it and describe it to us. HE HE HE HE.

Why?

What I'm posting now is with the blessing of Chelle. Chelle is the cousin of Suzanne's husband, Richard. I had gotten the impression from both of them that they were about as close as sisters. Suzanne had been a friend of mine since I had discovered one of her blogs in July, 2006. We would make reference to each other on our blogs and would have dialogue via email quite a bit. It was no surprise to me that she was friends to many other bloggers as well. I felt it was quite an honor to be held in as high esteem as I was. We even talked to each other on the phone on occasion. I felt as we had known each other for a long time. I also knew that Suzanne was having some personal problems, much of which had to do with a very troubled marriage. I would let her bounce things off me, and I would send her some encouragement. From a "Battleground State"

I am going to make this one short and sweet. I live in Ohio, in this election season, one of the so called "Battleground states," a state crucial for any candidate presidential hopes. Of course we have had many visits from presidential and vice presidential candidates. Other blogs have dissected both campaigns so I will not. The only questions I have is will the promises made by either of these candidates exclusive to these states be fulfilled, or will they prove only to be hot air?
