Midweek Musings

First, a big thank you to those who went and made a comment on Scott Wynn's blog. I hope you enjoyed the story as much as I did. I never heard of a monogrammed jock strap as a gift before. If that has anyone else's curiosity aroused, click on the link in the post below.

8 days to go and I still haven't gotten Mrs74's gift. I know what I'm getting, I just haven't gone out and bought it. Everybody else has been bought for.

There is supposed to be a winter weather advisory here in Northeast Ohio, but as I went out to get my paper this morning i only noticed a light dusting. I haven't heard any news, so I don't know what the secondary snow belt has gotten. I suppose if Pigeon would be reading this, we might find out what the primary snow belt received. I know about 5:30 yesterday evening, Medina was getting some snow and the roads were getting slick.

Don't you hate going to Kmart, Walmart*, or Target this time of year? I had to go to the Medina Walmart*(soon to become Evil Big Box Store#1894) to pick up a prescription for my father in law. The parking was a potential demolition derby, and once you get inside the store you think people are having their Christmas gathering there. If you are going to visit in the store, go somewhere where it isn't busy, like in the patio.

Check around the other blogs. I have seen some pretty good posts related to the season.

Be careful out there...and yes, getting in and out of the stores is pretty bad. Even the roads are just full of crazy shoppers.

I think trying to shop at Target during the xmas season is as close as I can get to a meltdown! ha,ha! I am shopping away via my computer - no crowds.

As wacko as some folks get during the holiday season, I would not want to be shopping at a store that has a target as it's logo.

My shopping is pretty much done.
Unfortunatley I still need to go to Walmart for unrelated Christmas reasons. It's almost a daily trip there.

Post 800: Time to chat

Hi Guys, It's hard to believe that this is post number 800 for this blog. I started this blog out of my desire to communicate. Since radio and television is becoming more and more automated and less and less personal, I'm glad I made the decision to go in this direction as it has given me many blessings. When I first decided to write my musings, a friend from the radio and television boards who goes by the name of newsnomore, told me not to be discouraged if I didn't get any readers. The fact that I did in the early going made me surprised and grateful that anyone was enjoying what I wrote. I've had people tell me that maybe it wasn't meant for me to ever be in radio, that maybe my calling was blogging. Nowadays I think blogging makes for better two way conversation than terrestrial radio, especially the way I do it, non confrontational. The closest I come from any confrontation is the innocent digs that Pat and I shoot at each other. On an average day I get betwee...

Bananas and Sleep Apnea

First thing I want to do is welcome all the good folks from Australia who are checking me out as a result of Google searches. I recently wrote a post on sleep apnea , discussing my history with it and my new CPAP machine. Because of this and the name of my blog, this is the top site google lists when somebody types "bananas sleep apnea" into the search line on Google. All of the sites I have seen, that were not the usual sites that come here, ended in "dot au" which I know as Australia. Normally the only hit from down under is by my good friend David McMahon. The reason for the search is that a research team in Australia has found. as a result of a study, that drinking a banana smoothie may assist in easing conditions that cause sleep apnea. Phospholipids, or fatty acids, in bananas stay active in the mouth for six hours and may keep the throat open, therefore reducing the risk of choking. Further studies will expand to those, like myself, who need a breathing machi...

From a "Battleground State"

I am going to make this one short and sweet. I live in Ohio, in this election season, one of the so called "Battleground states," a state crucial for any candidate presidential hopes. Of course we have had many visits from presidential and vice presidential candidates. Other blogs have dissected both campaigns so I will not. The only questions I have is will the promises made by either of these candidates exclusive to these states be fulfilled, or will they prove only to be hot air?
