I think I may become a fan...

The best thing I read this past Thursday night was an email Dan Gilbert addressed to the fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers:

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER 'KING' WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....

Now I really got a kick out of this because, if he really feels this way, Gilbert brought himself to the level of the fan. I respect that. He also became an official Cleveland sports fan. Now I haven't really been a Cleveland Cavaliers fan or even a basketball fan. Now I wish if the Dolans were to ever put the Indians up for sale, Dan Gilbert would step to the plate and tender an offer. Also if he still has some money on the table from not signing the "former king", he can always send some to me, or maybe give me a job with Quicken Loans.

But if he can walk the talk, I will become a fan of Dan Gilbert.

I said something simuliar to what Dan Guilbert said,just after Thing James said he would no longer be a Cavs member.

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding. Them's mighty tough words, thinking he can beat the Heat to win the ring. I hope he can, but I am curious as to what his game plan is...

I think that anyone's best hope is that the Heat beat themselves. But I would guess that some NBA teams will have "goons" ala Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn on their rosters this coming season.

i have never been a fan of Lebron James. the media has filled his head with so much overbearing testosterone ego that he has become as greedy a pig as bernie madoff!!
this is not what sports were meant to be. it just is not and what we are doing to our young members of society who use sports in this manner is creating a society based on deplorable standards.
i mean it is absurd to think of the kind of money these guys make and for what, cause they can throw a friggin ball!! Cure cancer baby and i will be your fan!! fix the leak in the gulf and i will pay you a billion bucks!!

lebron james? who cares, cleveland is much more then a sports figure

Hi Guys, It's hard to believe that this is post number 800 for this blog. I started this blog out of my desire to communicate. Why?

What I'm posting now is with the blessing of Chelle. Chelle is the cousin of Suzanne's husband, Richard. I had gotten the impression from both of them that they were about as close as sisters. Suzanne had been a friend of mine since I had discovered one of her blogs in July, 2006. We would make reference to each other on our blogs and would have dialogue via email quite a bit. It was no surprise to me that she was friends to many other bloggers as well. I felt it was quite an honor to be held in as high esteem as I was. We even talked to each other on the phone on occasion. I felt as we had known each other for a long time. I also knew that Suzanne was having some personal problems, much of which had to do with a very troubled marriage. I would let her bounce things off me, and I would send her some encouragement. Bananas and Sleep Apnea

First thing I want to do is welcome all the good folks from Australia who are checking me out as a result of Google searches. I recently wrote a post on sleep apnea , discussing my history with it and my new CPAP machine. Because of this and the name of my blog, this is the top site google lists when somebody types "bananas sleep apnea" into the search line on Google. All of the sites I have seen, that were not the usual sites that come here, ended in "dot au" which I know as Australia. Normally the only hit from down under is by my good friend David McMahon. The reason for the search is that a research team in Australia has found. as a result of a study, that drinking a banana smoothie may assist in easing conditions that cause sleep apnea. Phospholipids, or fatty acids, in bananas stay active in the mouth for six hours and may keep the throat open, therefore reducing the risk of choking.
