Yabba Dabba Doo

Another side of me

When I was in my preteen years, I got very involved in DC and Marvel comic books due to the popularity of the Batman TV series. I bring this up because of a question I read on Yahoo. The question was why don't people don't recognize Clark Kent as Superman with glasses. I don't think any serious comic book reader responded. Here is the answer. As Martha and Jonathan Kent, Clark's stepparents, were helping young Clark as he was about to become Superboy, they made his costume out of the blankets that were in the rocket ship from Krypton, which Jor El sent baby Kal El to Earth. The Kents were also looking for a way to conceal Clark's identity and had him wear glasses, but found out that ordinary glasses melted when Clark used his heat vision. So they took the gladd from the rocket and made the lenses for Clark's glasses. Long after Clark moved from Smallville to Metropolis, he had wondered how his identity was concealed. He asked Lois Lane to sketch him(as Clark Ke

Food for thought

I'm sitting here at my computer not knowing what to write, listening to the replay of the Dave Ramsey show, still not being broadcast live in it's entirety here in Northeast Ohio. So I muse. This has gotten me to thinking of something Dan Miller has said during his Sunday evening program "48 Days to the Work You Love". Sometimes when you put an "a" before a word, you make it opposite to what the word was. For example, a theist is one who believes in God. An atheist is one who doesn't believe in God. Someone who is moral has high personal standards. One who is amoral doesn't. So saying that, I wonder if when you muse, you are trying to think creative thoughts, is being amused taking your creativity away? Is amusement a waste of your creative time? bon appetit.

WIXY Ingenuity

While it was determined that the once WIXYmobile would not be repaired to what it once was, since it would be more than the car's worth in repairs, I did decide that the car should become street legal once again, so a buddy at the shop said he would work on it for me. The question was though, how do I get it to Cleveland in a legal matter. After much thought I made the following adaptations. I went to the evil big box store to get taillight tape and duct tape to put the drivers side taillight assembly in place. I went to Dollar General to get four bung ee cords to attach the bumper in a manner that would make it secure and display the license plate. And for your viewing pleasure I have examples of WIXY Ingenuity. What you see on the sidewalk is my grand daughter's mode of transportation when she comes to visit, a starter WIXYmobile. The last thing I want to add is if any NASCAR crew chief would be interested in my work, which would come in handy at a short track, drop me an

Moving Right Along

To my friends in the know, things went fine this afternoon. First step to getting better. Here's our sign, and no web address around it. Our church had a sign dedication yesterday after the morning service. The sign was possible due to the efforts of the South Main Street Church of God's ladies group in their fund raising efforts. Selling crafts made with "talent dollars" and a very delicious spaghetti dinner. The brick work was a result of the efforts of Bill Norton, a very talented bricklayer in our congregation. Now that you know what our little building is, next time you pass and you see cars filling the parking lot, stop by and get a blessing. Click on the picture for a better view.

An apology

An earlier post displayed a picture that beneath it displayed a web address that had adult content. I thank Liquid for bringing it to my attention, and I apologize to my readers, The post has been deleted.

Anniversary Wishes

I am starting to feel like Willard Scott, except my hair is the hair I was born with. Anyway anniversary wishes go to Mr. and Mrs. WZZP. They have been married today for seven years. Not long enough for a Paul Harvey greeting, but definitely long enough for a WIXY's Gone Bananas greeting. Happy anniversary folks.

Birthday Wishes

If you're known in these parts as JimOhio, and memory serves me right, today is your birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM note to self: if i'm wrong, it won't be the first time

Barberton Style Skinless(??) Chicken

Most folks who have followed this blog from the beginning know I like good fried chicken. I've given a good review to the Hometown Market in Wadsworth, and liked the chicken that the former ownership of the Rittman IGA had sold. The Foutty's, who are the new owners, make better chicken, but that's another story. What I want to post about is the chicken you can only get in the Barberton area. My favorite of the "chicken houses" is Milich's Village Inn, 4444 Cleveland Massillon Rd. I usually order the four piece dinner-leg, thigh, breast, and wing. It also comes with two sides of your choice. I usually get french fries(piled high on top of the chicken), cole slaw, and "hot sauce". I put quotations around hot sauce because to me it's spanish rice with an attitude. For a while there were several chicken restaurants popping up in the Wayne County area, all boasting "Barberton style chicken". They didn't last long. QWhen you're that

Two somewhat unrelated items

The Indians game ended early today(with the wrong team winning), so I was stuck in slower than usual traffic today as I was driving home from work. I figure that listening to the radio was useless, so I put a CD in to listen to. My mind wandered and usually when that happens I go into daydream mode. This time I was thinking of a couple of ironies of life. Did you ever realize that whenever an engineer tells a joke they have a tendency to butcher it by dissecting it, otherwise known as explaining it while they go along. The next item has to do with your average I.T.(information technology) person, otherwise known as professional computer geeks. What I want to say about them is they are the type of people who, when you ask them what the time is, they tell you how to build a watch. Have a great evening.

Ahh friends

I have a lot of fun with my image. It's a part of my overall non mystique. And I do all that for a reason, that being middle aged men pretending to be something or someone other than what they really are is what gives message boards and sites like MySpace and Blogger a not so great reputation. Besides, I am probably the world's worst liar, as in ability to lie. Which is more than likely I never made it as a car salesman. Well anyhow I sent the picture taken of myself on the WIXYcycle to some people, which included my newest blogging friend, Liquid. Remember, I mentioned this past weekend that she can make the most out of imperfections. Well, Suzanne(her non blogging identity) gave the photo her own personal touch, put an amusing story behind it, and placed it on her Liquid Illuzion blog. Hopefully this won't scare people away from reading her blogs. But then again it might scare viruses from computers. But seriously, I'm more than flattered. I saw her post as I was win

Some notes

First a shout goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Tim Lones, congratulating them on their 15th wedding anniversary. Tim's blog, Cleveland Classic Media, has undergone a face lift with a new template and it's looking really good. And a thank you to Tim for placing a link to my blog on the message board at the Big Chuck and Lil' John fansite. Next shout goes to Ohio Media Watch, as the Mighty Blog of Fun(tm) was a little late in celebrating it's second anniversary . That blog has helped inspire other blogs, including this one. To my friends that enjoy my Christian viewpoints: My other blog "Seek Him First" has it's first post since January. The post was inspired partly from some comments I heard from Dr. David Jeremiah as I was getting ready for church, and partially from the tone of the service at my church this morning. Last note: The picture on the post below is indeed me. I had thought it would be somewhat funny if I took a picture of the WIXYcycle next to the

Not so easy rider

Thank God for the internet

I am of all people most blessed.... I started out way too early this morning, a rare Saturday appearance at work. I would say that I had to work today, but instead I will say that I had the chance to make some extra money. The WIXYmobile wouldn't start, the starter was dead, so I had to drive the MrsWIXYmobile to work. I put in five hours, two of them paid time and a half. First overtime pay in about a month. I was in a production capacity this morning, every once in awhile checking my email. JimOhio checked in. I sent a reply, then back to the cutting torches. About 11:00am, I was getting ready to clock out to go home. Check around cyberspace one last time before I leave. There were two responses on my last post, both commenting on the same item. WZZP , who offered his friendship in an unselfish sort of way this past week when I was way in the valley has this way of bringing a smile to my face. You see, Levi is our mutual imaginary Amish friend, brought up during a sarcastic mome

Nothing here connects

One of the benefits of a long drive is sometimes the muse visits. I'm getting an idea for an e-book. If I cultivate this idea, it might get me a couple of dollars. It could be one of my "One Bite at a Time" series. Mrs74WIXYgrad went to her orthopedic specialist this morning. She will possibly need knee replacement surgery, and was told to look into a new line of work. Oh, I wish I was rich instead of so good looking. Another blessing came at work today. I was taken out of my office and had to do some jobs at my old machine since the current operator was on vacation. It will give me some more hours this week and we can really use the money. But all is not lost. I recently got an email from this guy from somewhere in South America. He said he was representing this rich old dude who unfortunately passed away recently. It seems that I'm his only living relative.... Please don't tell my brother.

True American

I received this in my email from my boss this morning: You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, "One nation, under God." You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You've never protested the 10 commandments posted in public places. You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You still say "Christmas" instead of "Winter Festival." You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You bow your head when someone prays. You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem. You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You treat Viet Nam vets with respect, and always have. You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You've never burned an American flag. You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening. You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You respect your elders and expcet your kids to do the same. You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if:

Update: As of 6:00pm I have my privileges back. I thank everyone for all their concerns. Funny how somethings come about. As most of my Northeast Ohio readers know, this blog come about from my semi serious posts on the area message boards, most notably at Cleveland.com. At the time of this writing, my privileges at cleveland.com have been at least suspended, if not revoked. This is a result of some postings I did on the pro wrestling board. Some were serious, others were nonsense. BizDecision and JimOhio also posted on that board, aligning themselves with me. Jim's privileges were revoked also. I had posted a message on several boards after I found out about Jim, explaining how unfair some of the practices at the forums were, and how Jim's posts were not as nasty as some who post perverted messages and still have the privileges. It's just another example of how unfair life can be. For now I will be posting over at the national boards.

Dedication at work

Thanks to Liquid for the inspiration.

Pictures of a quiet holiday

Early this evening, I was riding around town on the WIXYcycle, with the WIXYcam at my side. A quiet day around Rittman, as I was snapping photos. First thing I noticed was the corn growing and I thought that was two good signs for the 4th of July: the corn was more than knee high, and the Tribe is in first place. Du cks were out in Chippewa Creek enjoying themselves, and a horse decided to pose for me. On the way back throu gh I went behind Rittman Middle School and looked at the area around the football stadium. Hopefully the visitors bleachers will be completed before the football season. Hopefully there will be a football season, and I will be in the press box yelling into the new public address system and my daugh ter, who now lives in Wadsworth will be able to hear me in her house. And if you are in Rittman this week, stop by the Treasure Chest, where they are having an overstock sale BOGO-buy one get one free. See store for details.

You might be from Northeast Ohio if...

I got the inspiration for this post from my new internet friend from Mississippi, Liquid, aka Suzanne. I was looking at one of her blogs and she had a "you might be from Mississippi if" post. Once again check out the photography of the Liquid blogs. Puts the WIXYcam to shame. This was going to be a you know you might be from Cleveland post, but seeing that most of my readers are from the area and not Cleveland proper, I would expand it to Northeast Ohio. You might be from Northeast Ohio if... You think the regional motto is "Wait till next year." You think the first sign of spring is the first orange barrel. You think the orange barrel is the state flower. A good portion of your wardrobe either has Chief Wahoo in front, or "James 23" on the back. You don't look at a buzzard as a scavenger bird, but as a radio station mascot-WMMS or a town festival-Hinckley. You find yourself singing the "Garfield 1-2323" jingle. You know the correct pronunci

First Friday of the week notes

Yes this the first of two ends of the week for me as I have the fourth off, but that's it. Follow up on wrestling post: I still think that Vince McMahon is scum, but I also recognize that he was doing damage control on the message boards during the past week. I posted a link to this blog on the wrestling board on Cleveland.com, and almost immediately got a terse response from a poster known as NFLjunkie, I then sent out some emails asking for backup. BizDecision started posting responses to Mr. Junkie. The both of us were notified by this poster that pro wrestling was never intended to be a product aimed toward children. I think that NFLjunkie was in some way connected to WWE and was doing some damage control. Heading south on E. 55th St. in Cleveland about noon yesterday, I noticed that traffic was being congested by city workers painting lines on the road. The problems I has with it was the fact that they are doing this in the middle of the day on a major street in Cleveland on M
