Sample chapter of Big Chuck!

I received an email from Jane Lasser of Gray and Company, publishers of many titles pertaining to the Cleveland area. Jane wanted to make us aware of a sample chapter available online of the book Big Chuck! I had reviewed the book in January but since then I have gotten some new friends here. A couple of these friends, Margaret and Ben, spent their college years in the area and doubtless spent some Friday nights watching Hoolihan and Big Chuck, or Big Chuck and Lil John. And as I had mentioned in my review, I spent my high school years seeing Chuck and June Schodowski at various school functions as I attended Highland High School with Mike and Mark, their sons, and can attest to the fact that Big Chuck was as good a person in that setting as he was on the air. So check out the sample chapter and then order the book. I know you'll want to have one of your own.

Good people need recognition

On my way to work this morning, I stopped at Circle K for my newspaper and pop to take to work. I was pleasantly surprised to see Tabatha working there, as I hadn't seen her since I wrote this post about her . Out of curiosity, after explaining to her that I wrote about her on my blog, if she had heard from regional office. I had also wrote an emailing to them, complete with a link to that blog post. She told me that she hadn't. That's a real shame. People who do a good job and make people feel welcome when they come to make any purchase need to be rewarded. You can argue that this is why they get a paycheck and almost be right. But you also have to take into consideration that people like Tabatha will bring customers back when other places are open offering the same items at the same prices. Cashiers are called on the carpet when they are rude to customers, so reward those who provide exceptional customer service. Your bottom line might reflect this in a good way. Cliff ...

A little over the top

Sit down for this. I want to give some kudos to somebody at Clear Channel Cleveland. As I was listening to the Lanigan and Malon e show on WMJI/105.7, Jimmy Malone said something that made a lot of sense. He questioned whether it was appropriate for the House of Representatives to proclaim a moment of silence for Michael Jackson. He also said that it wasn't right for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to fly the U.S. flag at half staff. I don't feel that I would be offending anyone by agreeing with Mr. Malone, pictured above. I feel bad for the family, but I don't feel that Michael Jackson should be deified.

Sunday Musing: Procrastination and Organization

I am not very organized and I procrastinate quite a bit. Those are two very good reasons that I don't participate in things like A-Z Mondays and Weird Object Friday. I once participated in a Friday 55, but that was a special circumstance. Lack of organization has gotten in the way of my not accomplishing much in life. It's been said that those who fail to plan, plan to fail. Because of my failing to plan, this person of otherwise above average intelligence, graduated in the bottom third of my high school class, didn't go to college, and didn't have the career in media that I wanted. All you would need to do is look at all the books on my bookshelf that I haven't finished to realize how disorganized I am. I, of course, have much to blame my disorganization on. I blame it mostly on the one currently sitting at the keyboard. Procrastination? I always wait until something happens in order to get something done. I have a panic attack every year when the quality audit com...

Notes for a Friday....

First, the WIXYmobile is now back on the road burning gas. The problem turned out to be the crank sensor. One friend did the work while another loaned me the money to cover parts and labor. Next, I was never a big Michael Jackson fan, so I won't say much about his passing. It will be interesting to us who were around in August, 1977 to see if Jackson's death will have the same all around effect that the passing of Elvis Presley did.. I dodged another bullet as far as work is concerned. The company I work for will have a shutdown at the plant in which I'm assigned. My department manager will have me doing some special projects at the other Cleveland location. I now will be able to use my remaining vacation time at my digression. And Shaq got traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Ho hum...

Traffic situation update

A tip of the hat to ODOT for the placement of the portable electronic sign stating "77 NORTH ALL LANES" right before the lanes split for bridge construction. Too bad it had to be a result of a 2 car accident with injuries.

Trivisonno, you're an imbecile!

Today as I was driving home from work, I turned my car radio to WTAM/1100 just to see what the talk of the day was. Mike Trivisonno, the antihero of this blog, was on and he was talking about the effects of slashing the funding of Ohio libraries . A soundbite , people chanting "save Ohio libraries" was played over and over. Triv said that he hoped that libraries would close because it was about time things were taken away from the poor. Maybe if you'd go to a library once in awhile Triv, check out a book and read it, you might have a clue, you moron! I realize that this is an act and he's just a mouthpiece for cheap channel, but I think that most of the banter that I heard coming from that waste of frequency thisafternoon was in extremely poor taste. Many people, regardless of social status, use public libraries. Quite a few use them to hone their skills, and that is very necessary in these times of mass unemployment. I figure that his current lackeys should use their...
