Let's check our values....

For the past few days, the buzz in this area has been "Where will Lebron end up?" I say I really could care less at this point. As I get older, I become less of a professional sports fan. Matter of fact, I am getting very offended at these over sized crybabies getting the world handed to them on a silver platter because people bow to them.

Part of the problem is the area in which I live. The sports teams promise the sun, the moon, and stars. They fall far short in what they deliver but ask the fan base to support them in years and years of nothing. But buy the t-shirts and show your support. They ask the fans to come to see them perform. But have they seen the unemployment rate lately? At my house it's at 100%.

Back in the day, athletes knew what the general public had to go through as they worked real jobs in the off season. I think when the salary went up, they forgot what it was to be regular people. Today's athlete will sign a contract for 120 million over another for 119 million, saying they have to think about their family. Give me a break. If you manage your money right, which I hear many don't, you are set for life. Don't cry to me until you have to look for a food pantry to get food for your family...

Oh, and I hear next week the new American Idol will be announced. that's all well and good, but I don't give a whip about that either. Just another prima donna in training. And I don't like these entertainers trying to dictate public policy.

There should be a show called "American Idolatry." On this show people will be shown how stupid some are for looking up to someone because of how they entertain instead of what useful purpose they serve to society.

I agree with you 100% I cuite being a sports fan a long time ago,too amy crybabies,way over paid.in the old days the players would tape the living daylights out of themselves and REALLY PLAY.but that again I'm talking about the early 60's and before.long before the First "player" got a million bucks.

Hi Guys, It's hard to believe that this is post number 800 for this blog. I started this blog out of my desire to communicate. Since radio and television is becoming more and more automated and less and less personal, I'm glad I made the decision to go in this direction as it has given me many blessings. Sometimes Sports are Just Sports

 This may or may not make the final cut of my book. I was writing about some events this weekend and what had started as a joyous Friday night at my home school district became a weekend of heartbreak in the area after what happened at another school. Sometimes We Need to Realize That Sports are Just Games   Friday nights in late summer and early fall are sometimes a big deal for high school students and their families. As the long-time band announcer for my local high school, it is a time of year I always look forward to. This past Friday night was originally supposed to be the homecoming game for the local high school. The schedule had to be changed a bit because of the uncertainty of the opponents being able to field a team. There was talk around the league that they may have had to forfeit this game, so homecoming for the local school was rescheduled. Lawson's Chip Dip

On a couple of occasions I have written posts dedicated to Lawson's, a convenience store chain that was located in Ohio for close to 50 years. In the late 1980's the chain was bought out by Dairy Mart, of Engfield Ct. Dairy Mart was then purchased by Alimentation Couche-Tard, and most stored were rebranded Circle K. Something that has survived the years since Lawson's has left the landscape is Lawson's Chip Dip. I get many hits on this blog from people out of Ohio, I'm thinking former Buckeyes, looking for availability of this chip dip. I had gotten an email from a former resident of Cleveland looking for it. I emailed Circle K about this sometime ago asking if it was possible to send the dip out to those out of state, they said because of quality issues that it was not possible. My only suggestion would be to get in touch with Circle K in your home area and ask them to start stocking this very popular item that seems to make every get-together complete. Now we wil
