Now I was going to post a video blogcast of this, but time got away from me today. I hope everybody had a very relaxing Independence Day, and those overseas just had a great Sunday.
What I'm getting weary of is all this news about Lebron James. Living in northeast Ohio, we get this on all of our news outlets. Being a Cleveland sports fan, I'm expecting the worst, that being that Lebron signs with another team. If and/or when that happens, will my world change? In a word, no.
At this stage of my life, sports plays a much smaller role than in the past. Might be different if my brother, Ricky, was still alive. For those unaware, Ricky was my younger brother. He was developmentally disabled, was confined to a wheel chair for the last 20 years of his life and spent the last 8 in nursing homes. He passed away in March, 2008. Ricky was a sports fanatic and discussed it with anyone who cared to converse with him. If he were still around, he would be burning the phone line between the nursing home and my house discussing LBJ.
In the past few years, especially since the Indians tore down the team again, my interest in local professional sports has waned. Only pro sport to hold my attention these days is NASCAR and yes, it's very much a team sport.
But back to the Lebron circus. I have seen photos of fans holding up signs outside of his office in Cleveland. The signs say things like "home" and "commitment". I would love to hold a sign that says "idolatry" and "get a life" though I don't think it would go over too well.
What happens is going to happen and the sun will rise the next day. You can ask Margaret about that. She lives in suburban Baltimore. Their pro football team, the Colts, packed up and left town one night. They were without pro football for several years. Life went on, then they stole a team from another city. Life went on in that city too. There's a rumor that they got a pro football team now, but it's somewhat unsubstantiated.
Sports isn't life, just a diversion.

While I want Lebron to stay, I am just as prepared for him to leave..Been a Cavs fan from the start in 1970, and will continue to be Lebron or not..I try to root for the City name, not so much an individual..
And speaking of unsubstantiated rumors, I hear we have a baseball team.
And poor Art Modell could never show his face in these parts again.
Hope all is well with you and your family. Suz
