I need a battery

I belong to a Yahoo! group called Wayne County Free Cycle. It's a group where you can offer things you no longer want. Kathy has gotten many books and clothes from those who have offered. I have had her give away some things, a television, VCR, and a composter. We have also given away books and clothing.

This past Saturday, I went into my email and found someone was giving away a couple of VHS camcorders. I got one of them, an RCA, model CC414.

For the most part, people get tired of camcorders before the thing wears out. Biggest problem is with the batteries, especially if they are lead acid batteries. If you don't charge your battery every 6 months, the battery dies. The advantage lead acid has over ni-cad batteries is that they don't develop a memory.

Well, I've been checking online for that and other accessories. I was able to power it up with my AC cord from my laptop. Cliff Note: Please pray for my laptop as it died on Saturday. Good news is that it's still under warranty. Actually pray for me. That's my favorite toy.

I just wonder if I should get another lead acid battery or a nickel cadmium battery?

Also remember that grandfathers and camcorders can have much fun.

cute. I love the idea of free-cycle. I must look into this. Good luck with your battery situation...I am sure the grandkids will love seeing you come at them with the camera!!

Ah...over here we have a store where we can sell used items, too. Sorry to hear about your laptop. Since it's under warranty, I hope you don't have to pay anything.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about batteries. :-(((

Sometimes Sports are Just Sports

 This may or may not make the final cut of my book. I was writing about some events this weekend and what had started as a joyous Friday night at my home school district became a weekend of heartbreak in the area after what happened at another school. Sometimes We Need to Realize That Sports are Just Games   Friday nights in late summer and early fall are sometimes a big deal for high school students and their families. As the long-time band announcer for my local high school, it is a time of year I always look forward to. This past Friday night was originally supposed to be the homecoming game for the local high school. The schedule had to be changed a bit because of the uncertainty of the opponents being able to field a team. There was talk around the league that they may have had to forfeit this game, so homecoming for the local school was rescheduled. Lawson's Chip Dip

On a couple of occasions I have written posts dedicated to Lawson's, a convenience store chain that was located in Ohio for close to 50 years. In the late 1980's the chain was bought out by Dairy Mart, of Engfield Ct. Dairy Mart was then purchased by Alimentation Couche-Tard, and most stored were rebranded Circle K. Something that has survived the years since Lawson's has left the landscape is Lawson's Chip Dip. I get many hits on this blog from people out of Ohio, I'm thinking former Buckeyes, looking for availability of this chip dip. I had gotten an email from a former resident of Cleveland looking for it. I emailed Circle K about this sometime ago asking if it was possible to send the dip out to those out of state, they said because of quality issues that it was not possible. My only suggestion would be to get in touch with Circle K in your home area and ask them to start stocking this very popular item that seems to make every get-together complete. Now we wil
