A need to be moving.....

I ran into someone yesterday at Evil Big Box Store(tm) #1812, whom I hadn't seen in a few years. Cliff Note:I shaved before I left the house. Anyway when I saw him, I said "hi Gary." Gary replied with "Hey fat boy." Now Gary hasn't missed many meals in his life, and I know this was tongue in cheek. But I also know that my clothes have been getting tighter since I lost my job.

I'm glad that Spring is coming and the days are now longer. I'm also glad that I also had the initiative to move my fat rear end out of the house and around the development. 2.15 miles later, I am now writing this post and getting ready to hit the shower.

I don't like being called fat boy, even if it's true. So I need to do something about it.

Good for you Cliff. Nothing like a little exercise. Walking is great.

You think you're fat? Heck, when I climb in the tub to take a bath the water in the toilet rises!

Hey, GREAT job on adding the exercise! I haven't been exercising too regularly after I started my training, but then again every day I either bike or walk there and back - if I bike, it takes about 13 minutes per trip, if I walk it takes about 25 minutes per trip.

Good wishes with the walking! I deleted "good luck", because that didn't seem the right attitude - losing weight isn't about being lucky.

Hey, have you posted the clean shaven you yet? I haven't seen any mention. I've been curious to see this smooth suave face. ;-)

The better weather sure helps. I've gotten out and walked during a couple lunch hours this week. It beats going out for lunch and spending money on too many calories and too much saturated fat. So from one walker to another, keep it up (walking, not weight).

Exercise is one of those weird thing.... DOING it is the tough part, but once you do it you feel so great you're like "why don't I do this ALL the time?"

As far as Gary, you should have tripped him. Or smacked him upside the head. (Just kidding, but still. If someone had called me "fat girl", it would have been an UGLY scene....) :)

Keep up the good work with the exercise!
It blows my mind that people, even in jest, even when "kidding" say such stupid things. Who would say that? What self-loathing does he have that it someone makes him feel better to make someone feel worse? He probably pulls the wings of flies for fun. Sorry. I may be harsh, but I have seen and heard enough subtle bullying to know when it isn't so subtle, and shouldn't be accepted. I always think of something I could have said later when someone says something dumb. Now I have a stock question. When I hear someone say something like that I ask, with true concern "wow, why would you say something like that?" They then say "man, I was just kidding" and I say, " kidding or not, that was mean". It makes them think.

Post 800: Time to chat

Hi Guys, It's hard to believe that this is post number 800 for this blog. I started this blog out of my desire to communicate. Since radio and television is becoming more and more automated and less and less personal, I'm glad I made the decision to go in this direction as it has given me many blessings. When I first decided to write my musings, a friend from the radio and television boards who goes by the name of newsnomore, told me not to be discouraged if I didn't get any readers. The fact that I did in the early going made me surprised and grateful that anyone was enjoying what I wrote. I've had people tell me that maybe it wasn't meant for me to ever be in radio, that maybe my calling was blogging. Nowadays I think blogging makes for better two way conversation than terrestrial radio, especially the way I do it, non confrontational. The closest I come from any confrontation is the innocent digs that Pat and I shoot at each other. On an average day I get betwee...

Expand My Territories

Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request. 1 Chronicles 4:10 NIV The verse above is commonly referred to as the Prayer of Jabez. I was impressed to find my copy of the book written by Bruce Wilkinson and read it again. Some recent happenings prompted me to reflect upon how my territories have been expanded. The Lord has been blessing me and I have really not deserved these blessings. The past several years, I have been sharing my poetry with my friends on Facebook. I also share the poems with others by writing them on index cards. These are usually received with smiles and people telling me that I should write a book. For years, I have been under the belief that poets and composers achieve the greatest fame after they start decomposing.  The last year or so, I have shared my poems with some best selling author...

From a "Battleground State"

I am going to make this one short and sweet. I live in Ohio, in this election season, one of the so called "Battleground states," a state crucial for any candidate presidential hopes. Of course we have had many visits from presidential and vice presidential candidates. Other blogs have dissected both campaigns so I will not. The only questions I have is will the promises made by either of these candidates exclusive to these states be fulfilled, or will they prove only to be hot air?
