I like Happy Wife because.....

I was introduced to Happy Wife Happy Life by Busy Bee Suz when I wrote a post about the Dave Ramsey Show once again being aired in my home area. Suz, who herself was a new member of the bunch wrote this comment: "He is a funny guy. My Friend Happy wife Happy Life is obsessed with him. well, just a bit I suppose."

I then went over to Happy Wife Happy Life and checked out her blog. I commented on one of her posts, referenced Suz' comment and told her that I didn't see the Total Money Makeover on her list of favorite books.

HWHL then came over to visit me and left this comment"Suzanne is correct. OBSESSED is the operative word. Just the other day I was having lunch with a friend and we got on the topic of Dave Ramsey... he had appeared at the Catalyst convention in Atlanta (which my friend had been at... and she had never heard of Dave Ramsey before Catalyst). I told her, quite honestly, that I were not married, and if Dave were not already married (to Sharon), I would track him down, drop to one knee, and propose marriage.

And I'm only about 10% kidding when I say that. He's SMART, he's FUNNY, he's a SMART ALECK (but in a good way), he's great with managing money, and he's a GODLY MAN. What more could a woman want?! :-)

Total Money Makeover is one of my VERY favorite books (in fact, I have a copy I keep for myself, and one that is on "revolving loan". I also have the "Financial Peace" set... (book, and CD set).

And, I listen to him almost every single day on the radio.

Obsession? Some might say so, yes.... :-)"

She became a member of the bunch and we became online friends very quickly.

HWHL is very proud of her church and shares much of their teaching with all of us. Like others I blog with, I share prayer requests with her and she shares with me also.

Happy Wife is an entrepreneur who has been affected adversely by the recession, so she needs our prayers. She is also a devoted wife, mother, and a dog lover. As a post she once wrote indicated, she loves her dogs unconditionally, especially when they eat a hole in her mattress in the guest room.

I don't know if she appreciates good poetry, but she likes mine.

Happy Wife Happy Life devotes a good part of her blog space to her convictions and many worthy causes. She is also is true to those friends she makes online.

Check her out and you will see why she is such a good friend to me.

Plus, she is darn funny. I am surprised we did not get the boot in h.s because of laughing so much.
Great post. Actually, this may be my favorite post of yours ever. :)

I saw Dave Ramsey before I really knew who he was. Someone I was with pointed him out, and then she had to explain who he was.

I have heard his show, and the things seem to make sense. I even wrote him an email that was written over the air. But that was a few years ago.

I'm not familiar with Dave Ramsey, but I do like to watch Suze Ormand. I'll have to look up his book on Amazon.

I love visiting all the blogs that you introduce!

Post 800: Time to chat

Hi Guys, It's hard to believe that this is post number 800 for this blog. I started this blog out of my desire to communicate. Since radio and television is becoming more and more automated and less and less personal, I'm glad I made the decision to go in this direction as it has given me many blessings. When I first decided to write my musings, a friend from the radio and television boards who goes by the name of newsnomore, told me not to be discouraged if I didn't get any readers. The fact that I did in the early going made me surprised and grateful that anyone was enjoying what I wrote. I've had people tell me that maybe it wasn't meant for me to ever be in radio, that maybe my calling was blogging. Nowadays I think blogging makes for better two way conversation than terrestrial radio, especially the way I do it, non confrontational. The closest I come from any confrontation is the innocent digs that Pat and I shoot at each other. On an average day I get betwee...

From a "Battleground State"

I am going to make this one short and sweet. I live in Ohio, in this election season, one of the so called "Battleground states," a state crucial for any candidate presidential hopes. Of course we have had many visits from presidential and vice presidential candidates. Other blogs have dissected both campaigns so I will not. The only questions I have is will the promises made by either of these candidates exclusive to these states be fulfilled, or will they prove only to be hot air?

My job

I have worked at my company for, unofficially, 17 years. When I first started working there in June, 1992, the average work week was 55-57 hours. Sometimes you worked more than that. I was 36 years old at the time and I could handle the long hours and short nights of sleep. 17 years and three knee surgeries later, I need less hours work and more hours sleep. Even moving into a quasi desk job, I still find it difficult to crawl out of bed at 3am. I could get up later if I wanted to put up with both rush hours. But this morning, things will change slightly. I received a call from my department manager yesterday. I was notified that I had to cut my time down to 40 hours. This would be down from 44-45 that I normally work. No surprise there as all the other departments got notified before I was. And I had to split my time between plants, doing calibrations at the other shop 1-1/2 days a week. I'm actually looking forward to the change. I also like the prospect of getting an hour extra...
