Different from last year.

Above was the scene in my driveway this weekend last year. We had gotten a blizzard and I had to cancel the memorial service that I had planned for my brother, Richard.

Today I had been going around wearing a t-shirt and jeans. Such is life here in Ohio.

I went around to some thrift shops looking for some things I could put in the now spare bedroom in my house. I found a treadmill at Goodwill for 10 dollars. I want to get rid of this extra poundage and I also want to set up this room as an office. So for the time being, it will be used as a combination home office and exercise room.

Good news is that we spring forward tonight and will be getting an extra hour of daylight at the other end. Kathy and I will be able to get out and do some walking, which has been good for the emotions and the sugar level. Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us, but if it doesn't the treadmill will come into play.

the treadmill sounds great for those days you can't get out and walk....
the weather here is hot today...I was an idiot and got myself sunburned at my daughters softball game.....I won't hear the end of that anytime soon. :)

I'm really looking forward to having some warmer weather come our way to do more outside walking too. I much prefer that to exercising inside.

Wixy, first of all I'm so sorry about the emotions you had to go through with your brothers memorial service. That couldn't have been easy. Secondly, I was just telling Pat this morning that I've been looking on Craigs list for a treadmill and cannot find one for under $100. You are a lucky lucky man. Good luck with the exercising. I've started walking again this week as well. It does my soul good to get out and get some fresh air.

That's quite a picture, Cliff! We have had a huge temp change in a week too.... although we didn't get that much snow. We hit the mid 70's yesterday. It was gorgeous!

A $10 treadmill is QUITE the find - congratulations!

Hey - I put a cool poem up on my blog today - I think you'll like it. It was on yesterdays' MountainWings (www.mountainwings.com) - a great inspirational thing I get from a local pastor here in Atlanta.

Anyway - hope you and your wife have a wonderful day! :)

I remember that snow storm last March too. What a difference a year makes. Chris thinks we will have one more bad storm this year before we are totally done with winter.

you lose too many of those "pounds" and you are going to be out of your slider look alike gig..... that was terrible wasn't it.....

Has it been a year already since your brother passed? Seems like only a few months ago.

Great find you found at the Goodwill..... one of my favorite places to dig around. Good luck with the walking and the treadmill. I need to get moving myself!
A treadmill is a good idea. That's a real good price on it. If I had one I would put it in front of my TV so I would be sure to use it. ;)

We have enjoyed a few warmer days in Rochester, but back to the cold & snow now. Such is March. I just hope that we don't have a heavy snow storm, or blizzard like we get sometimes in March.

I was in jeans and no shirt for the weekend. I'm happy for this great weather.
I know that was a difficult time to go through last year with your brother's passing... So sorry you had to postpone the services you had planned for him.... I know how important it is to remember our loved ones and share the moments with others. It is uplifting during very sad times. I hope you were able to have a great service for him after that...

On another note, glad you found the treadmill... I know you come over to my blog and see all the goodies... I hope it's not depressing... My dad is extremely diabetic- so I should really watch it, too... I work out a lot, but still.. our health is so important, while we have it...
God bless you! Leesa

Post 800: Time to chat

Hi Guys, It's hard to believe that this is post number 800 for this blog. I started this blog out of my desire to communicate. Since radio and television is becoming more and more automated and less and less personal, I'm glad I made the decision to go in this direction as it has given me many blessings. When I first decided to write my musings, a friend from the radio and television boards who goes by the name of newsnomore, told me not to be discouraged if I didn't get any readers. The fact that I did in the early going made me surprised and grateful that anyone was enjoying what I wrote. I've had people tell me that maybe it wasn't meant for me to ever be in radio, that maybe my calling was blogging. Nowadays I think blogging makes for better two way conversation than terrestrial radio, especially the way I do it, non confrontational. The closest I come from any confrontation is the innocent digs that Pat and I shoot at each other. On an average day I get betwee

Lawson's Chip Dip

On a couple of occasions I have written posts dedicated to Lawson's, a convenience store chain that was located in Ohio for close to 50 years. In the late 1980's the chain was bought out by Dairy Mart, of Engfield Ct. Dairy Mart was then purchased by Alimentation Couche-Tard, and most stored were rebranded Circle K. Something that has survived the years since Lawson's has left the landscape is Lawson's Chip Dip. I get many hits on this blog from people out of Ohio, I'm thinking former Buckeyes, looking for availability of this chip dip. I had gotten an email from a former resident of Cleveland looking for it. I emailed Circle K about this sometime ago asking if it was possible to send the dip out to those out of state, they said because of quality issues that it was not possible. My only suggestion would be to get in touch with Circle K in your home area and ask them to start stocking this very popular item that seems to make every get-together complete. Now we wil

Sometimes Sports are Just Sports

This may or may not make the final cut of my book. I was writing about some events this weekend and what had started as a joyous Friday night at my home school district became a weekend of heartbreak in the area after what happened at another school. Sometimes We Need to Realize That Sports are Just Games   Friday nights in late summer and early fall are sometimes a big deal for high school students and their families. As the long-time band announcer for my local high school, it is a time of year I always look forward to. This past Friday night was originally supposed to be the homecoming game for the local high school. The schedule had to be changed a bit because of the uncertainty of the opponents being able to field a team. There was talk around the league that they may have had to forfeit this game, so homecoming for the local school was rescheduled. The opponents, which are rivals of my local school district, were able to field a team and the game was played. The game was
