I like Shellmo because....


400 miles from my home in Rittman, Ohio sits a log cabin in Gaylord, Michigan. That cabin is the weekend and vacation home of Shelley. She has mentioned that I have good taste in blogging friends. She should know because she's one of them.

Shelley is another friend I met through Jessica. Her first visits to me were over at my poetry blog, Whattville is on the Other Side of the Tracks. Cliff Note:That was a selfish plug. I found out after a brief investigation that "Shellmo" has three blogs: Building a Log Cabin, Birding in Michigan, and Northern Michigan Experience.
All three blogs tell the stories of her many interests and are loaded with excellent photos. All three blogs are also very popular, as evidenced by the comments she gets on all her posts. I hang out mainly at the log cabin.

As I mentioned when I introduced her to the bunch several months ago, Shelley and her husband, Greg are not only cabin dwellers, they are also cabin sellers. They can help you as authorized Hiawatha Log Homes representatives(unpaid plug) to own the log home of your dreams.

Her blogging takes us on many virtual tours of their dream home. There we get to see the love they put into the home and the love they have for nature. In the photo above is Shelley and her cabin cat, Marvin. She is also one of many on my list who fancies her feathered friends and has written a blog dedicated to them. But check out all the photos she has there as there is some excellent photography there. Shelley also has periodic giveaways for those who visit. Check back often

Cliff - wait I like to call you Wixy - WIXY - I am smiling, laughing, snorting (the hubby just asked if I needed the heimlich manuever)at your kind post and words! Thank you so much! I value our bloggy relationship - I feel like it's 6 degrees of Jessica and now it's turned into 6 degrees of Wixy as I've added some new friends to my list! I am grateful to you for that my friend.

Sometimes Sports are Just Sports

 This may or may not make the final cut of my book. I was writing about some events this weekend and what had started as a joyous Friday night at my home school district became a weekend of heartbreak in the area after what happened at another school. Sometimes We Need to Realize That Sports are Just Games   Friday nights in late summer and early fall are sometimes a big deal for high school students and their families. As the long-time band announcer for my local high school, it is a time of year I always look forward to. This past Friday night was originally supposed to be the homecoming game for the local high school. The schedule had to be changed a bit because of the uncertainty of the opponents being able to field a team. There was talk around the league that they may have had to forfeit this game, so homecoming for the local school was rescheduled. Lawson's Chip Dip

On a couple of occasions I have written posts dedicated to Lawson's, a convenience store chain that was located in Ohio for close to 50 years. In the late 1980's the chain was bought out by Dairy Mart, of Engfield Ct. Dairy Mart was then purchased by Alimentation Couche-Tard, and most stored were rebranded Circle K. Something that has survived the years since Lawson's has left the landscape is Lawson's Chip Dip. I get many hits on this blog from people out of Ohio, I'm thinking former Buckeyes, looking for availability of this chip dip. I had gotten an email from a former resident of Cleveland looking for it. I emailed Circle K about this sometime ago asking if it was possible to send the dip out to those out of state, they said because of quality issues that it was not possible. My only suggestion would be to get in touch with Circle K in your home area and ask them to start stocking this very popular item that seems to make every get-together complete. Now we wil
