I was thinking about the above verse while in church this morning. I once heard evangelist Curtis Hutson preach on this very verse. He said one of the biggest problems is that there are too many "sucker mouth Christians."
I've also noticed quite a few of my friends write about needs they have, waiting for the government to improve things. Problem is if we don't put our faith in God to guide the leaders and supply us our needs, then all the rhetoric we hear from our political leaders will be hot air and will not solve much of anything in the long run.
The same Higher Power that my recovery blogger friends depend on to help them with their day by day living can help those in authority, and those are people we are commanded to pray for.
Pray with a childlike faith and a wide open mouth. God is willing to supply your needs in some way. Chances are that it won't be a check from the Publisher's Clearing House, but it might be overtime at work, or even a new job that pays better than the one you have. Give your needs to God and he will fill it in His time.

Here's the thing most people are not taught about, and it should be common practice, even though you are praying for those who lead to be given guidance, it does not absolve us of the responsibility to do everything in our power to help make those things that need fixing fixed.
We all know what the problems we face today are, complaining about them is not being part of the solution. If you are laid off of work, yes go put a resume in, then go help out at your local soup kitchen, clothing drive or help one of your neighbors plant a garden. Surely you can use the savings in groceries.
Just because someone is elected into a high office does not mean that one person is going to fix all the problems.
In fact that one person has said all along that it will take the cooperation of this entire nation to get up and help fix the problem. If you got laid off and there is a local church that can use your skills then donate some time in your community. Don't just sit there and expect the world to fix your problems, that is not the solution.
Being part of a solution today starts with prayer and then is followed by positive action!! Thanks again Cliff for the post!
Wise thoughts there..I know I dont pray as I should a lot of times..God blesses in spite of ourselves sometimes..I just got what looks like a somewhat permanent 5 hour bump up at my place of work..from 26 to 31 hours..Doesnt sound like much but it makes a huge difference in the paycheck..keeps us above water..
Another note:I heard Curtis Hutson years ago at Canton and Massillon Baptist Temple..A fine Preacher in the 70's and 80's..He is in Heaven now..I always enjoyed him..
