Is Ohio Becoming a Purple State?

This post is an answer to some message board and blog comments I've read of late. It seems to me that people think that because Ohio voted democrats into top positions this past November, we have become a blue state.

The liberals wonder why the liberal format is going away in Columbus radio. My answer to that is maybe people don't want to hear "rah rah me" as much as they want to hear "shame on you".

Now that democrats have gained power, Rush Limbaugh and those who have patterned themselves after him will gain popularity.

Has Ohio turned "true blue"? I don't think so. I think that in November, people voted for change, not necessarily for the Democrats. They voted against the party in power. I think the state turned "purple".

My observations have been that the Republicans have promised to legislate morality, and Democrats promise to legislate prosperity. I don't think you can truly legislate either. Morality comes from within. Prosperity comes from hard work.

I think abortion is wrong. I also think this war isn't really right either.

Each party goes to the extremes for their candidates. Nobody looks towards the middle.

I have a unique concept. How about government of the people, for the people, and by the people?

Hey hey...that Highland education has paid off. That is about as accurate an assessment as I have read.

First, even a blind squirrel will find a nut eventually. Next, did you go to school with me? And third, I don't think Highland wants to claim me, even though they have a great marching band.

As for Columbus losing the liberal
talk radio, I think it's because
of two reasons. First: it's not
entertaining and you have to be
to gain audience (believe me if
Rush and Co. were not entertaining
they would not be on the air).
Second show the vision that you
want for the future.
I agree with you that people voted
for change. As a conservative (I
no longer call my self republican)
I could not bring myself to vote for
Mike DeWine. And I'm sure there
are more like me across this state. The Republicans need to
keep in mind something. "Ya dance
with them what brung ya."
Conservatives brought the party
to power and we were abandoned
so we abandoned them. And will
continue to do so until it sinks
in.

No...I think you referenced being a Highland grad in a previous post....I am a current Highland parent and husband to a Highland gal who graduated in '80. And yes, the band is awesome now, when my wife attended, I think the number of people in band had dwindled to the teens.

Your wife was there the same time as my sister before my folks moved.

Regarding the Pride of Highland marching band, all they really need is a good announcer, but then again, I'm not available.

I was a few years before your wife as I graduated in 1974, ahead of some notables. Big Chuck's sons Mark and Mike, Jim Ritcher(I can still remember his hits on me during football practice) and Dwier Brown(Field of Dreams).

My kids have told me that I went to school with everybody.

RED is the color of LIBERALS and always has been! Funny how the red and blue colors were ALWAYS alternated back and forth every election but now that the liberal media has the reds colored blue they want to keep it that way. THEY AREN'T FOOLING ME!

Hi Guys, It's hard to believe that this is post number 800 for this blog. I started this blog out of my desire to communicate. Since radio and television is becoming more and more automated and less and less personal, I'm glad I made the decision to go in this direction as it has given me many blessings. From a "Battleground State"

I am going to make this one short and sweet. I live in Ohio, in this election season, one of the so called "Battleground states," a state crucial for any candidate presidential hopes. Of course we have had many visits from presidential and vice presidential candidates. Other blogs have dissected both campaigns so I will not. The only questions I have is will the promises made by either of these candidates exclusive to these states be fulfilled, or will they prove only to be hot air?

Why?

What I'm posting now is with the blessing of Chelle. Chelle is the cousin of Suzanne's husband, Richard. I had gotten the impression from both of them that they were about as close as sisters. Suzanne had been a friend of mine since I had discovered one of her blogs in July, 2006. We would make reference to each other on our blogs and would have dialogue via email quite a bit. It was no surprise to me that she was friends to many other bloggers as well. I felt it was quite an honor to be held in as high esteem as I was. We even talked to each other on the phone on occasion. I felt as we had known each other for a long time. I also knew that Suzanne was having some personal problems, much of which had to do with a very troubled marriage. I would let her bounce things off me, and I would send her some encouragement.
