I read an excellent article in this morning's Beacon Journal, written by Bob Dyer. It was concerning high school students who had My Space pages.
The article went on to say that these students would be pictured with alcoholic drinks in their hand, and giving an obscene gesture to the camera. They would go on to say what they would do , have done, or wanted to do. These pages could be seen by anyone.
Funny, if I would tell my parents some of the things that these kids post on my space, I'd still be grounded.
I wonder if some of these things are kids wanting to look to others like they are really something. The sad thing about this is there are perverts running around preying on people like this.
I will say it time and again. I don't lead such a remarkable life. Outside of traffic tickets, and some trouble with the City of Cleveland over some property I had inherited, I have never been in any trouble with the law. I'm not great and I'm not bad. I may be mediocre, but I'm what you see, and I take great pride in that.
There is nothing sexy about getting high or drunk.
If you are a student reading this, do yourself a favor. If you lead a life as portrayed in these My Space pages, clean yourself up before it's too late. Don't pretend that you are something that you aren't.

I agree totally. I don't understand WHY some kids today think it's cool to hold up bottles of hard liquor in photos posted on MySpace. Kids who pose with bottles of alcohol think they're cool when in reality, they look incredibly stupid and immature.
A lot of people at the school where I work know who the worst violators are of the hard liquor on MySpace and drinking in general are concerned. No surprise that many of these same young folks who are trying to be cool have already flunked out of college. They are saying "it's too hard."
WIXY...the other scary thing about kids and MySpace is that they don't realize that a. putting something on the internet is a form of publication and b. everyone can see it.
These kids think that they have total First Amendment protection on the internet. It's pretty sad how naive and unknowing the children of today are.
A lot of these kids think "Immaturity" is being cool. Another thought:HS and college kids are introduced to gambling at a young age as well. I have a small MySpace Page. Havent done anything with it since I put it up. If there is a way to delete it, I'll probably do that. Not that there is anyting incriminating on it..Just feel strange for having it somehow..
