My name is Cliff and I'm a procrastinator....

I have been kicking around participating in a meme. I was tagged by Don, of Don's Mind fame and it involved 7 weird habits I have. One of the habits I have is being a procrastinator. This one almost proved to be a deadly one. Let me explain...

One of the things that I procrastinate is refilling my medications. I have prescriptions for hypertension, diabetes, and depression. One time I went days without refilling my depression meds and found out the hard way that you don't go off this one cold turkey.

This time it was my blood pressure meds I neglected to refill, as I had to get a new script from my doctor. I was wrong on one of the prescriptions, but the other had to be rewritten, and the good folks at my HMO (think head of Germany in world war 1) stopped covering this particular medicine. This morning when I woke up, I was very light headed, had headaches, and my blood pressure was 191/101. I kept this all to myself until this afternoon when I told my wife. We couldn't get a hold of our PCP, so we went to the urgent care center. The doctor made sure I didn't have a stroke then wrote me a prescription for an alternate medicine and told me to see my PCP next week.

I feel better, but I also feel stupid.

Oh my gosh.....you can't mess around like that. Not a good thing.
Glad you are well now, but don't do it again. Consider that your slap on the wrist!!!

CLIFF!

Do I need to scold you???

(I really think not. Sounds like you paid the price!)

Glad to hear you're okay and will change your procastination ways!

When it comes to medication refills anyway. ;)

Consider this another friendly slap on your wrist man. Get that stuff taken care of WHEN you need it, if not well before! 80 point differences should be nothing to sneeze at. I know when I've had an 80 point difference in mine, it's been enough to require me to get looked at, but it's also been very rare and not a chronic thing.

Please be careful! We want ya around and blogging for a while longer!

Cliff I am glad you are okay!!!

I am a procrastinator as well. Boy the bone head things I have done by putting matters off.

Lots of Stupid Tax stories in there.

We should write a book about the idiot things we have done by procrastinating. We should earn some money for our talents!!! Hehe...

That is scary, Cliff!
I have the opposite problem with BP... mine is chronically low... so low in fact, I have FAINTED from it (which is not fun, let me tell you).

However, I'm on 2 meds as well and one of my meds (Topamax, for migraine prevention) will SMACK me if I miss it...

So, yes, the POINT of the story is: Take Your Meds! :-)
