From the Pressbox-Homecoming 2007



At the end of a very busy weekend, I find that between my two blogs, I'm about three posts behind, so the reports will be a little more brief than usual.

Homecoming saw the Rittman Fighting Indians play the Chippewa Chipps, two teams coming into Friday's action with identical 0-7 records.


Homecoming court was introduced before game time and the Homecoming queen was crowned.


And of course, the students were ready to support their team.


Halftime I get to use the new Rittman public address system and I am both excited and afraid. Excited because I don't have to strain my voice, afraid because I didn't want to hurt anyone's ears.

The Chippewa band was first on the field with two selections from their competition program. At the end of the Chippewa program, I then went over and turned the system down a notch, sat down and introduced the Rittman Indians Marching Band. Even though I was somewhat subdued, I maintained my cool and announced a good show. The Rittman band also rose to the occasion. It helps when you have a good product to sell. Song of the night, "We're All in This Together"


Note to Trogdan Publishing: I am flattered that someone over there reads my blog, and I am also flattered that photos are taken off here and published in the Eastern Wayne edition of The Post. I just want to know why you don't give me credit for these pictures. I write this blog in part to feed my ego and I cover the band because they are a group of hard working students, who have respect for themselves and for those who work with the band. That in itself is payment enough.

But in the past three out of four weeks, photos from this blog have been printed in the paper and I have not been given credit for them. Please stroke my ego in the future and give me due credit for my photos.

What a fun couple of days. The only comment I want to make regarding the pictures is that you missed the sophomore and freshman attendants in your pictures. And I only note this because my daughter was one of them!! Talk about needing an ego stroke, HA. (I am kidding, the pics are great, believe me, I got tons of pics of that sophomore girl)
As always Cliff, I enjoy reading your blogs!!! THe whole week end was very enjoyable, I hate to see the marching season end. Think I could convince the school to flunk my son so he has to stay an extra year???

Hi Guys, It's hard to believe that this is post number 800 for this blog. I started this blog out of my desire to communicate. Since radio and television is becoming more and more automated and less and less personal, I'm glad I made the decision to go in this direction as it has given me many blessings. Sometimes Sports are Just Sports

 This may or may not make the final cut of my book. I was writing about some events this weekend and what had started as a joyous Friday night at my home school district became a weekend of heartbreak in the area after what happened at another school. Sometimes We Need to Realize That Sports are Just Games   Friday nights in late summer and early fall are sometimes a big deal for high school students and their families. As the long-time band announcer for my local high school, it is a time of year I always look forward to. This past Friday night was originally supposed to be the homecoming game for the local high school. The schedule had to be changed a bit because of the uncertainty of the opponents being able to field a team. There was talk around the league that they may have had to forfeit this game, so homecoming for the local school was rescheduled. Lawson's Chip Dip

On a couple of occasions I have written posts dedicated to Lawson's, a convenience store chain that was located in Ohio for close to 50 years. In the late 1980's the chain was bought out by Dairy Mart, of Engfield Ct. Dairy Mart was then purchased by Alimentation Couche-Tard, and most stored were rebranded Circle K. Something that has survived the years since Lawson's has left the landscape is Lawson's Chip Dip. I get many hits on this blog from people out of Ohio, I'm thinking former Buckeyes, looking for availability of this chip dip. I had gotten an email from a former resident of Cleveland looking for it. I emailed Circle K about this sometime ago asking if it was possible to send the dip out to those out of state, they said because of quality issues that it was not possible. My only suggestion would be to get in touch with Circle K in your home area and ask them to start stocking this very popular item that seems to make every get-together complete. Now we wil
