Come on Down!

It has now been over a year since Bob Barker had stepped down as host of "The Price is Right" and like everybody else, I'm still trying to get used to Drew Carey as host. My father in law watches TPIR most of the time and he says that at least Drew isn't trying to be a Barker clone and that he does interject himself into the show. I also think that America can still breathe a sigh of relief that Rosie O'Donnell wasn't chosen as host.

I still think that there are some things that Drew can do to make TPIR his own. Going back to his days on "Whose Line is it Anyway," Drew could replace the showcase showdown with a "showdown hoedown." The three contestants from each half hour could sing a hoedown with the topic chosen by the audience.

Drew could also get Kathy Kinney(Mimi) as one of his models, complete with makeup and putdowns of Drew.

Many possibilities for this. But then again if it ain't broke.....

On a related note: For the wrap party celebrating the first year as host of TPIR, Drew Carey ordered 45 cheese and pepperoni pizzas from Antonio's Pizza in Cleveland, and had them flown to Los Angeles. Now this doesn't make much sense to me. He could have ordered from Pizza Pan and gotten one free pizza for each one he ordered delivered. But I do hope he tipped his delivery guy well.

As much as I love Drew, I myself find myself thinking he could loosen up a bit on the show. Same with Howie Mandel, he is very funny, but it doesn't show through on Deal or No Deal.

I haven't seen him host the show oddly enough. He must be rolling in the dough to get pizza flown out to there!

I heard about him ordering all that pizza! That's just crazy! I guess he knew what he wanted and went for it, but seems like wasted money to me.

Yeah, but it cost three times what he paid for the pizza to Fed-Ex it out to the west coast. So it cost him about $1,800! I just wonder what he tipped them.....

Lawson's Chip Dip

On a couple of occasions I have written posts dedicated to Lawson's, a convenience store chain that was located in Ohio for close to 50 years. In the late 1980's the chain was bought out by Dairy Mart, of Engfield Ct. Dairy Mart was then purchased by Alimentation Couche-Tard, and most stored were rebranded Circle K. Something that has survived the years since Lawson's has left the landscape is Lawson's Chip Dip. I get many hits on this blog from people out of Ohio, I'm thinking former Buckeyes, looking for availability of this chip dip. I had gotten an email from a former resident of Cleveland looking for it. I emailed Circle K about this sometime ago asking if it was possible to send the dip out to those out of state, they said because of quality issues that it was not possible. Sometimes Sports are Just Sports

 This may or may not make the final cut of my book. I was writing about some events this weekend and what had started as a joyous Friday night at my home school district became a weekend of heartbreak in the area after what happened at another school. Sometimes We Need to Realize That Sports are Just Games   Friday nights in late summer and early fall are sometimes a big deal for high school students and their families. As the long-time band announcer for my local high school, it is a time of year I always look forward to. This past Friday night was originally supposed to be the homecoming game for the local high school. The schedule had to be changed a bit because of the uncertainty of the opponents being able to field a team.
