I'm Kinda Frustrated

This past Tuesday, June 2, was the 35th anniversary of my high school graduation. For what it's worth, I'm still not interested in going to any reunion, except to show off my still full head of hair. I was the fat kid from "the other side of the tracks." Cliff Note: Now you know where I got the inspiration for the name of my poetry blog, Whattville is on the Other Side of the Tracks.

Anyway, I have tried twice to post from YouTube, the Alice Cooper hit "School's Out". That was a big hit in 1972, two years before I graduated. One of my best friends in school was his drummer's cousin.

The post was meant to be a tribute to all students out of school for the summer, 35 years since I wore the cap and gown, and to my high school friend, Gordon Dutt(just in case he decides to google his name.)

Now with my recent luck, the song will probably post twice when I'm away from my computer and those who are just surfing the web, coming across this blog, will think I'm crazy. But then that might not be too far away from the truth.

Cliff,I have never been to a reunion as well.I was not the most popular guy as well.I have got you by a couple of years I graduated in January 1971.

I still got my hair and while it is some gray mixed with the other color "near blacK" I have to say that I went back to my wife's 50th reunion and was astonished at the size of her former dream machines. Now I don't want to say I remained skinny for the past 54 years but I am overweight by 20-30 pounds and wish I wasn't. I really enjoyed my first visit to your blog.

Abe: I'm glad you've enjoyed your visit here. I know you've been to my Whattville blog before.

Now I think if Sarah Palin knew that Abe Lincoln was moving to Alaska, she would welcome you with open arms. May help her chances in 2012.

Been 33 years for me, and I went to a 20th reunion. I'm glad I did...cause it confirmed that I'm not crazy...they are. :D

I tried to post a you tube video on my site and its lost in limbo.but if it ever shows up i think you will get a kick out of it.especially with the last thing you said on this post.

I was on the other side of the tracks too...not the fat kid though, I was the one who looked malnourished! JUST AS BAD!

I did not even go to my HS or college graduations... lol......I had some good times.. just not interested.. too much NEW to do now than going back.

Hi Guys, It's hard to believe that this is post number 800 for this blog. I started this blog out of my desire to communicate. Lawson's Chip Dip

On a couple of occasions I have written posts dedicated to Lawson's, a convenience store chain that was located in Ohio for close to 50 years. In the late 1980's the chain was bought out by Dairy Mart, of Engfield Ct. Dairy Mart was then purchased by Alimentation Couche-Tard, and most stored were rebranded Circle K. Something that has survived the years since Lawson's has left the landscape is Lawson's Chip Dip. I get many hits on this blog from people out of Ohio, I'm thinking former Buckeyes, looking for availability of this chip dip. I had gotten an email from a former resident of Cleveland looking for it. I emailed Circle K about this sometime ago asking if it was possible to send the dip out to those out of state, they said because of quality issues that it was not possible. Sometimes Sports are Just Sports

 This may or may not make the final cut of my book. I was writing about some events this weekend and what had started as a joyous Friday night at my home school district became a weekend of heartbreak in the area after what happened at another school. Sometimes We Need to Realize That Sports are Just Games   Friday nights in late summer and early fall are sometimes a big deal for high school students and their families. As the long-time band announcer for my local high school, it is a time of year I always look forward to. This past Friday night was originally supposed to be the homecoming game for the local high school. The schedule had to be changed a bit because of the uncertainty of the opponents being able to field a team. There was talk around the league that they may have had to forfeit this game, so homecoming for the local school was rescheduled.
