I want to rant awhile

As most who stop here know, I write a poetry blog, called Whattville is on the Other Side of the Tracks, I started writing this when I realized that I had a talent to rhyme words. To my surprise, the blog has been well received and as a result I have gained a few more blogging friends, thanks in a big way to Jessica.

My aim for this blog is to be light hearted in my poetry and I had promised not to be dark in my posts there. So far I have succeeded and I enjoy writing it. All the comments for the poems on my three blogs have been positive. I appreciate that as well as all the support you all give me writing about my blogs on your blogs.

My rant starts here. I got an email from Michelle, of Crows Feet fame. Michelle and I exchange emails quite frequently. Before I started blogging I never dreamed of being able to communicate with someone who lives in Europe much less becoming friends with several people overseas. Anyway Michelle had told me of a poetry blog written by a gentleman named James. The blog is called A Life of Rhyme. It contains James' insights, a look into his being and family. He gives his views on issues, such as global warming.

Michelle told me that the unfortunate circumstance in which she discovered this blog. Another blogger happened to be ridiculing James' poems and laughing at him. I don't think that's cool.

Part of my unwritten mission statement as a blogger is to support other bloggers and to overlook any writing styles different from my own. Most of my poems will not be in a serious vein, but I won't knock others whose poems are. Michelle told me that James will not be Shakespeare and I told her that Shakespeare will not be James. Cliff Note: High school English Lit students would probably rather read James than Shakespeare.

In my opinion, this unnamed blogger more than likely got his jollys off, but probably impressed very few readers. I know I don't have any desire to go to this blog. But I did go to James blog and liked what I read.

I hear ya on that rant, Cliff.

FYI to any who read here and my two blogs: I will be on hiatus from the blogosphere tomorrow and Wednesday, due to the issue spoken about in my most recent blog. Yes, Doris and I broke up this weekend. No, I'm still not completely okay. I won't be for a few days. That's why the need to take time away from blogging, and from computers in general. If you send emails, I will get them, but won't be on for any real length of time...dj_jmos22_2007@yahoo.com is that address.

It is so not cool to be mean. Mean people stink. And they should keep their opiniions to themselves.
well, that is my opinion. :)
Keep writing.

Mean people suck. (Hey, now THAT's an idea for a bumper sticker!)

Seriously, they really do. And no, I have no desire to analyze their childhood and figure out what made them mean... they need to GROW UP, be ADULTS and quite being mean.

I just don't understand why we (especially we ADULTS) can't "play nice"... I don't get it.

Sigh.

Most people just cant help themselves and feel that they need to voice their opinion to others they don't agree with. I personally can't stand mean people and I feel if you can't say anything nice don't say it at all.

Post 800: Time to chat

Hi Guys, It's hard to believe that this is post number 800 for this blog. I started this blog out of my desire to communicate. Since radio and television is becoming more and more automated and less and less personal, I'm glad I made the decision to go in this direction as it has given me many blessings. When I first decided to write my musings, a friend from the radio and television boards who goes by the name of newsnomore, told me not to be discouraged if I didn't get any readers. The fact that I did in the early going made me surprised and grateful that anyone was enjoying what I wrote. I've had people tell me that maybe it wasn't meant for me to ever be in radio, that maybe my calling was blogging. Nowadays I think blogging makes for better two way conversation than terrestrial radio, especially the way I do it, non confrontational. The closest I come from any confrontation is the innocent digs that Pat and I shoot at each other. On an average day I get betwee

Lawson's Chip Dip

On a couple of occasions I have written posts dedicated to Lawson's, a convenience store chain that was located in Ohio for close to 50 years. In the late 1980's the chain was bought out by Dairy Mart, of Engfield Ct. Dairy Mart was then purchased by Alimentation Couche-Tard, and most stored were rebranded Circle K. Something that has survived the years since Lawson's has left the landscape is Lawson's Chip Dip. I get many hits on this blog from people out of Ohio, I'm thinking former Buckeyes, looking for availability of this chip dip. I had gotten an email from a former resident of Cleveland looking for it. I emailed Circle K about this sometime ago asking if it was possible to send the dip out to those out of state, they said because of quality issues that it was not possible. My only suggestion would be to get in touch with Circle K in your home area and ask them to start stocking this very popular item that seems to make every get-together complete. Now we wil

Sometimes Sports are Just Sports

This may or may not make the final cut of my book. I was writing about some events this weekend and what had started as a joyous Friday night at my home school district became a weekend of heartbreak in the area after what happened at another school. Sometimes We Need to Realize That Sports are Just Games   Friday nights in late summer and early fall are sometimes a big deal for high school students and their families. As the long-time band announcer for my local high school, it is a time of year I always look forward to. This past Friday night was originally supposed to be the homecoming game for the local high school. The schedule had to be changed a bit because of the uncertainty of the opponents being able to field a team. There was talk around the league that they may have had to forfeit this game, so homecoming for the local school was rescheduled. The opponents, which are rivals of my local school district, were able to field a team and the game was played. The game was
